LETTER: Identifying voters should be standard

Voting is a huge privilege and responsibility.

Voting is a huge privilege and responsibility. Voting this year will determine the fate of our country like no other election. Because voting is such a sacred responsibility for citizens, voter ID should be the standard in every state. There should be no more votes from dead people. No more votes from illegal aliens. And no more votes cast more than once.

Valid ID is required for the following:

• Boarding an airplane

• Applying for a job

• Pharmacy

• Bank transactions

• School applications

• Store credit applications

• Establish a utility account

• Purchase a car

• Donate blood

• Purchase a firearm

• Write a check

• Check out a book at a library

• Rental application

• Purchase cigarettes or liquor

• ID is even required at most health facilities prior to rendering services.

The union-backed Democrats claim that voter ID is discriminatory and intimidating. Yet, ironically, ID is required prior to voting at a union hall and entry into the Democratic National Convention required photo ID not once, not twice, but three times.

How much more should we require a valid ID prior to participating in the election of our leaders.
