James L. Grenier, 66, of Superior, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his residence.
James L. Grenier, 66, of Superior, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born May 4, 1946, in Superior, son of Wallace and June (Samuelson) Grenier.
He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1964.
Jim proudly served his country with the United States Air Force.
He retired as a steelworker from LTV Steel in Illinois, after many years of service.
Some of his interests included playing cards, watching football, animals and gardening.
He was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation, Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy and the Steelworker's Union.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Wallace Grenier; and sister, Joann (James) Sackett.
Survivors include five sisters, Carole (Rodney Heiska) Lee, Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Barbara Ellison, Brownsville, Texas, Susan (William) Britton, Foxboro, Patricia (Jarred) Kenville, Superior, and Janice McConnell, Superior; two brothers, Michael Grenier and Richard (Denise) Grenier, both of Foxboro; brother-in-law, James Sackett, Danbury, Wis.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, Sept. 20, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Rev. Daniel Dahlberg will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Michael Grenier, Richard Grenier, Richard Banks, Bruce Hart, John Klobucher and Jarred Kenville.
Burial will be in the family lot in Summit Cemetery, Summit Township, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.
