SHS swimmers second at ChiHi Invitational
Kaitlin Heinen won the 200 and 500 freestyles to lead the Superior High School girls swimming team to a second-place finish out of eight teams at Saturday’s Chippewa Fall’s “ChiHi” Invitational.
Kaitlin Heinen won the 200 and 500 freestyles to lead the Superior High School girls swimming team to a second-place finish out of eight teams at Saturday’s Chippewa Fall’s “ChiHi” Invitational.
The Spartan relay teams also scored many of the teams points with both the “A” and “B” relays placing solidly.
Tori Johnson, Kaitlin Sanders, Heinen and Grace Elonen swam to a tie for second in the medley relay, while the “B” relay of Alysha Johnson, Nikki Hansen, Kjersten Lisak and Julie Snyder placed ninth.
The 400 freestyle relay of Elonen, Tori Johnson, Lisak and Heinen placed third; Alysha Johnson, Lisak, Sanders and Hansen placed fifth in the 200 free relay, just ahead of the SHS “B” team of Britta Bergstrom, Keilee Gall, Ashley Kittleson and Snyder, who came in sixth edging out three other team’s top squads.
Tori Johnson, Elonen, Sanders, and Hansen also scored in the top six in individual events, while Alysha Johnson and Lisak both scored in the top 12.
The Spartans, who swam at Proctor Tuesday night, swim at Duluth Denfeld at 5 p.m. Thursday and at the Eau Claire North Invitational Saturday (diving at 9:30 a.m., swimming at noon).
