Work-related accident claims life of Ellsworth construction worker along I-94

An Ellsworth construction worker was killed Monday morning along Interstate Highway 94.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to I-94 eastbound near mile post 39 for a report of a subject who was lying on the ground unresponsive who had possibly been electrocuted, according to a release from Sgt. Marcks of the Wisconsin State Patrol. Upon arrival, it was determined that 34-year-old Joseph C. Janisch, an employee of Highway Technologies, and was working on replacing guard rails. He was in contact with a piece of construction equipment that struck an overhead power line. Janisch was transported to Mayo Hospital Menomonie where he passed away. OSHA will be investigating the incident, according to Marcks.
