Motorcyclist remains in critical condition after crash into wash out on Marina Drive

A Superior man who drove his motorcycle into a blocked off section of Marina Drive that washed out during the June 20 flood remains in critical condition.
Jack E. Povaser, 75, drove into the gulley at about 8:39 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release by Superior Police Chief Charles LaGesse.
A witness stated he saw the motorcycle pass between barricades while northbound on Marina Drive at a slow speed. When he looked back and didn’t see the motorcycle or rider. He walked over and discovered that the driver and motorcycle were in the shallow creek at the bottom of the gulley. The witness then called 911.
The motorcyclist was found unconscious and wasn’t breathing when officer arrived on the scene. CPR was initiated and the victim was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center by Gold Cross Ambulance. The Superior Police Department and Superior Fire Department also responded to the incident.
