A Superior man who drove his motorcycle into a blocked off section of Marina Drive that washed out during the June 20 flood remains in critical condition.
The 75-year-old man drove into the gulley at about 8:39 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release by Superior Police Chief Charles LaGesse.
A witness stated that he observed the motorcycle pass between barricades while northbound on Marina Drive at a slow speed. When he looked back and didn’t see the motorcycle or rider he walked over and discovered that the driver and motorcycle were in the shallow creek at the bottom of the gulley. The witness then called 911.
The motorcyclist was found unconscious and non-breathing by officers who were first on scene. CPR was initiated and the victim was transported to Essentia Medical Center by Gold Cross Ambulance. The name of the victim is being withheld pending confirmation of family notifications.
The Superior Police Department, Superior Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the incident.
