Tiger golf and volleyball teams in action

The Hayward Hurricanes won the match with a team score of 163 to finish undefeated in Heart O’ North Conference play. The Tigers picked up a second-place finish with a 207 score, and Chetek-Weyerhaeuser finished with a team score of 274.

Hayward finishes with a 14-0 conference record, while the Tigers are 10-4.

Hayward golfers took the top five individual places in Monday’s match, with Brittany Neff taking medalist honors with a 35.

Leading the Tigers was Gwen LaPole with a 50. Molly Lattery carded a 51 for Northwestern, Reggie Semanko and Lyndi Graff both finished with 53s, and Marissa Delvas had a 61.

The Tigers are back in action Thursday when they host the Northwestern Invitational at Hidden Greens Golf Course. The HON Conference Championship will be held Sept. 20 in Chetek.

At Botten’s Green Acres on Thursday, the Tiger girls posted their best score of the season with a 185 to win a match with Ladysmith, Luck-Unity and St. Croix Falls.

Northwestern’s score was 15 strokes better than runner-up Luck-Unity’s team score.

Tiger coach Steve High said five NHS golfers had scores in the forties, which was a first for the team.

LaPole took medalist honors with a 43, followed by Lattery with a 45, Marissa Delvas’ 48 and Reggie Semanko’s 49. Semanko had a birdie on the seventh hole that contributed to her score.

Other scores for NHS were: Lyndi Graff, 46 Kayla Janowicz, 51 Alex Delvas, 59 and Cora Jarman, 77 — the best score of the season for the freshman.

Volleyball

The Northwestern volleyball team fell to Bloomer 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-16) Tuesday night at Maple.

The Tigers are now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the Heart O’ North Conference.

Leading Northwestern against Bloomer were Alie Larson and Connilyn Hursh, both with six kills apiece.

NHS is back in action Thursday at Ladysmith.
