Drink some cabs with the critters at the Lake Superior Zoo during the third annual Uncorked for Conservation wine and beer tasting event 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Superior Zoo.

Lake Superior Zoological Society Board of Directors hosts the event and proceeds go toward the zoo’s education and conservation programs.

At this year’s event, participants have the opportunity to learn about how zoos cooperatively manage endangered species through breeding, research and contributing to field conservation efforts. As well as the environmental benefit of choosing wine bottle sealed with natural Cork instead of fabricated plastic corks. Cork is a natural, renewable, recyclable and biodegradable material obtained through an environmentally friendly harvesting process.

There will be wine and beer tasting, a hors d’oeuvre buffet, a wall of wine and a grand prize drawing at 6:45 p.m. for a 2012 Ford Fiesta donated by Northstar Ford.

The cost is $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Tickets are available online at www.lszoo.org, at the zoo or from Lake Superior Zoological Society board members. Raffle tickets for the car will be sold at the event for $50 each with a maximum of 1000 being sold.

Uncorked for Conservation is possible with sponsorship from of Green Mill Restaurant, Northstar Ford, Schick Corporate Learning and Super One Liquor.
