Richard E. "Dick" Plunkett, 90, Poplar, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Richard E. "Dick" Plunkett, 90, Poplar, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 30, 1922 in Superior to Samuel and Marie (TePoel) Plunkett and raised in Cloverland.

Dick was united in marriage to Jeanette Peterson on May 25, 1946 in Superior and celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Together they owned and operated a dairy farm for 39 years in Cloverland and then retired to the Poplar area.

Dick was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon where he served on the Parish Council. He also served on the boards for FHA, Federal Land Bank and the Tri-County Insurance Company and he also served on the committee for ASC.

Dick is survived by his wife Jeanette; two sons, Richard "Keith" (Jackelyn) Plunkett, Maple, Brian Plunkett, Poplar; three daughters, Mary (Ralph) Frostman, Iron River, Janice (Richard) Oaksford, Seattle, Wash., Barbara (Thomas) Kolocziej, Iron River; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Plunkett, River Falls, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Plunkett, Albuquerque, N.M., Virgil Plunkett, Maple, Rolland (Joan) Plunkett, Superior, Dennis (Barbara) Plunkett, Roanoke, Va.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Plunkett, Maple, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Calvin, a brother, William and an infant sister Eugenia Marie Plunkett.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon with Rev. Don Kania, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
