Sh-Boom has been selected to receive the 2012 Special Olympics Minnesota Outstanding Special Event/Fundraiser Award and will be honored at the organization’s annual Distinguished Service Awards banquet.
Distinguished Service Awards recognize Special Olympics Minnesota athletes, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and family members who demonstrate an incredible amount of support, enthusiasm and time commitment to the organization.
Kathy Moland, a Sh-Boom band member, will accept the award on behalf of Sh-Boom.
Sh-Boom, a premier attraction band that plays in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, has been entertaining audiences for more than 20 years.
The band organizes, advertises and puts on an annual dance that donates all of its proceeds to the Special Olympics Minnesota Duluth Allstars. Not only has Sh-Boom promoted the Duluth Allstars, but they have also raised more than $13,500 for the past seven years.
Every year they put on their fundraising event, their time and talent is 100 percent donated, showing just as much enthusiasm for the event as they do in the previous years.
Sh-Boom is proud to support Special Olympics Minnesota and is not afraid to show it through their musical performances.
Sh-Boom will receive the award at the Special Olympics Minnesota Distinguished Service Awards banquet Sept. 22, at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Welch, Minn.
