Hawk Ridge offers free programs in migratory season
More than 80,000 raptors and other migratory birds, on average, travel past Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve from mid-August through November. September is a great time of year to see a variety of raptors, such as sharp-shinned hawks, merlins, broad-winged hawks, northern harriers, and red-tailed hawks.

Naturalists and volunteers provide interpretive programs about the bird migration daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through Oct. 31. Programs, live bird demonstrations, kid activities, free binoculars rental and merchandise are available at Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve Main Overlook. Hawk Ridge is on East Skyline Parkway about one mile past Glenwood Street.
The Hawk Weekend Festival runs Sept. 14-Sept. 16. Registration is open.
