Superior police and firefighters responded to a submerged vehicle at Dutchman’s Creek on Lakeshore Drive and Moccasin Mike Road on Saturday morning.
One Hermantown teen was found soaking wet at the site, but no injuries were reported, according to a Superior police report.
The teen was unable to tell authorities if he was driving the car or if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time it went into the water. He did admit to having a couple sips of alcohol. The teen said he was hanging out at the beach with a couple girls and they were giving him some stuff and then he went to his car to sleep it off. He could not remember anything else.
One witness saw the vehicle coast into the water. He told police the car was headed eastbound toward the dead end, turned and almost hit two vehicles, then stopped, backed up and then drove into the water.
Another male on the beach at the time jumped into the water to grab a hold of the Hermantown teen and swim him back to shore. Neither of the witnesses saw who was driving the car or whether anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Rescue personnel went into the water and found no one inside the vehicle, which was submerged with just the driver’s side roof and upper portions of the doors visible.
The vehicle was removed from the water later in the day by Duke’s Towing.
