AMSOIL Speedway’s Northern Nationals get a facelift

The 24th Annual Rick Gondik Law Offices Northern Nationals at AMSOIL Speedway in Superior will be the recipient of a facelift this year.

The traditional Friday night lineup of IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints, WISSOTA Super Stocks and Midwest Mods, coupled with Saturday night’s WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds and Pure Stocks, has been changed.

Friday night's lineup will consist of the IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints, WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds. Saturday’s program will be adding the WISSOTA Late Models and Pure Stocks, while keeping the Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Modifieds for a second show.

“This is something we thought about last year, but the timing wasn’t right,” said Joe Stariha, an AMSOIL Speedway board member. “We’re trying to make the Northern Nationals more of an event than it already is. By having two complete shows for the three classes we will have more drivers and fans staying at the track and in the area over the weekend.”

The change will also help the speedway get WISSOTA national point runners looking for two shows to enhance their national points as the race year is winding down.

“We’ll be paying out more than $75,000 for the two-day event and look forward to showing the fans a great race weekend, including a bunch of giveaways for the kids and a DJ on Friday night after the races,” Stariha said.

Racing gets under way Friday with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday hot laps will be at 5:30 p.m. and racing will start at 6 p.m.

Sunday will be reserved for a rain date.

Ticket prices are $25 for tonight and $20 for Saturday.

Two-passes are available for $40. Children 12 and under are free.
