Speedy halfback Packy Paquette scored four touchdowns, running for 15 and 56 yards and catching two scoring passes from quarterback Paul Hammerbeck to lead the Superior High School football team to a 40-13 win over Marshfield. Hammerbeck also hit end George Koskovich with a 2-yard TD pass and Mike Maryanovich ran for a 2-yard six-points. (1966)
Ed Novozinski won the Nemadji Men’s Golf Club Labor Day golf event, his final shot (with handicap) coming to rest six inches from the 19th hole. Harry Peck was the runner-up at 108 feet on the 19th hole and Arnie Legard place third, 200 yards from the cup. (1966)
