Mary "Betty" Mortorelli, 90, Superior, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born on July 26, 1922, in Ironwood, Mich. to Nickolas and Katherine Biondich.
Mary "Betty" Mortorelli, 90, Superior, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born on July 26, 1922, in Ironwood, Mich. to Nickolas and Katherine Biondich.
She was employed as a cashier for the University of Wisconsin-Superior for 20 years before retiring in 1985.
Betty was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1190, Venture Club and the "WOW" Club. She volunteered at the Sick Loan Closet in Superior and on voting days she volunteered for voting registration. She was inducted into the UWS Hall of Fame, she helped serve funeral lunches at Cathedral for many years and she was very active with her church and community for many years.
Betty is survived by one son, Dennis (Shari) Mortorelli, Duluth, Minn.; one daughter, Jackie (Tom) Reichardt, Shaumburg, Ill.; five grandchildren, Scott (Angie) Mortorelli, Stacey (Corey) Verhel, Shawna (Derek) Slusarski, Jeff (Jennifer) Reichardt, Christine (Ryan Trottier) Reichardt; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Logan, Parker, Savanna, Madison, Mallory and Andrew; one sister-in-law, Betty Biondich, Menomonie, Wis. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Americo "Mertz"; a son Thomas; her parents; one brother Nick; one sister, Katherine and an infant sister.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Cathedral of Christ the King. Rev. Andrew Ricci will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
