SHS soccer team blanked by Ashland, CEC

The Superior High School boys soccer team dropped to 1-2 for the season with recent losses to Ashland and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

CEC defeated the Spartans 3-0 Monday in Superior. The Lumberjacks scored two goals in the first half and one late in the second. The Spartans had just one shot on goal.

Jarret Byrnes and Matthew O’Shaughnessy shared duties in goal to make 18 saves for Superior.

Ashland defeated the Spartan boys 9-0 at the SHS soccer fields Thursday evening.

Logan Tampke scored four goals for Ashland while Byrnes and Nick Hesselgrave combined to make 16 saves for Superior.

The Spartans return to action at noon Friday with a home game against Osceola.
