An Oliver man found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old child faces sentencing next month in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Earlier this month, a jury found 48-year-old Frank Tyrone Whitehead guilty of first-degree child sex assault and felony threats to injure or accuse of a crime based on a January incident in Whitehead’s Oliver residence.

According to the criminal complaint:

A child had stopped at the house to pick up a bike. Whitehead asked the child if she wanted to make money by helping him clean the house. He led her to the bedroom and asked her to pick up something off the floor. When she bent down to pick it up, he grabbed her by the legs, pulled her pants and underwear down and put her on the bed, where he performed oral sex on her. He also forced her to touch his genitals. As the child ran out of the house to get away, Whitehead said if you tell anybody, I will make you disappear.

Following the jury’s guilty verdict, Whitehead’s cash bond was raised to $20,000 to cover both the sex assault case and an open disorderly conduct case, with conditions that he have no contact with the victim or Mama’s Bar. He remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail. Sentencing is set for Sept. 28. Whitehead faces up to 66 years imprisonment and $10,000 in fines.
