Joshua Brew, a 2012 graduate of El Cajon Valley High School and Salutatorian of his class has received the Presidential Scholarship of $15,000 a year for college. He maintained a 4.47 GPA, and received the AVID Standout Recognition of $1,000.

Joshua Brew, a 2012 graduate of El Cajon Valley High School and Salutatorian of his class has received the Presidential Scholarship of $15,000 a year for college. He maintained a 4.47 GPA, and received the AVID Standout Recognition of $1,000. He is also a male scholar athlete.

He will attend San Diego State University in the fall where he’ll study mechanical engineering.

Josh also received $500 to take pre-calculus/calculus funded by the National Science Foundation, and studied World Religion 101.

Josh lived with his grandparents, Don and Claudia Brew, and attended Cooper Elementary School for his 4th and 5th grades. His mother was ill. His parents are Don Jr. and Evelyn Brew of San Diego, California.

Scholarship

Kaitlyn Mergen of Superior received the Community of Learners Scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2012-2013 academic year. Mergen, daughter of Mike and Tina Mergen, graduated from Superior High School and plans to attend UND in the fall. The Community of Learners Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have shown exemplary achievement in both high school GPA and test scores. This scholarship is funded by the University of North Dakota Foundation.
