One killed in Bayfield County crash

An Ontario man was killed and two Wisconsin residents injured in a Saturday afternoon car accident in Bayfield County.
At about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two car accident on US Highway 63 north of Grand View, according to a news release from Chief Deputy Dan Clark with the sheriff's office. Multiple injuries and trapped occupants of the vehicles were reported.
Bayfield County deputies responded with Mason, Great Divide, and Ashland Ambulance Services and Grand View, Drummond and Namakagon fire departments. Medical helicopters were also requested, but none were available at the time of the accident.
One fatality was reported by arriving fire department members in one of the vehicles, two persons were reported injured in the other vehicle involved.
The deceased, a 64-year-old man from Barrie, Ontario, was northbound on US 63 when he lost control of his vehicle and skidded across the northbound and southbound lanes of US 63, according to the release. The other vehicle operated by a 21-year-old male from Mason, was southbound on US 63 and collided with the first vehicle as the first vehicle crossed into the southbound lane. A 22-year-old female from Ashland was a passenger in the southbound vehicle and also injured.
Both occupants of the southbound vehicle required extrication from the vehicle due to vehicle damage.
The injured parties were transported to MMC Hospital in Ashland and later transferred to hospitals in Duluth.
Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
The accident remains under investigation of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office.
