Taste a world record burger

Black Bear Casino Resort will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest hamburger during Big Burger Bash, a free public event at the casino on Sept. 2. Spectators and guests will even get the chance to sample the record-breaking fare.

Black Bear chefs will cook a bacon cheeseburger weighing in at 1,200 pounds, which would break the previous record of 881 pounds 13 ounces in the biggest burger one-off event category.

Big Burger Bash will take place from 2-6 p.m. outside the Otter Creek Event Center’s east entrance and will include a concert from the Jimmy Buffet tribute band “Son of a Sailor.” A giant outdoor oven was specially constructed for the record-breaking attempt and a bun big enough to hold the burger will be baked by Twig Bakery. A special scale is also being brought in to weigh the jumbo burger. A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records will be in attendance to authenticate the record.
