Second-run movies come to Superior theater

Marcus Theatres today announced its Superior Cinema located at 69 N. 28th Street in the Mariner Mall will become Superior Value Cinema effective Aug. 31.

Marcus Theatres today announced its Superior Cinema located at 69 N. 28th Street in the Mariner Mall will become Superior Value Cinema effective Aug. 31. With the change, the theater will show movies that have recently played in first-run theaters at a value price of $3. Marcus Theatres gift cards and VIP tickets will continue to be accepted at the Superior Value Cinema.

“We are pleased to offer residents in the Duluth/Superior area another moviegoing option – the ability to see popular movies at a value price about two months after the movies initially opened in first run theatres,” said Bruce J. Olson, president of Marcus Theatres. “People who do not regularly attend first-run screenings but love to see movies the way they are meant to be seen – on a big screen with popcorn, soda and concessions –can now do that at a value price. Attending movies at the Superior Value Cinema is also ideal for people who missed a movie during its first run and still want to see it in a movie theatre for their entertainment enjoyment or simply want to see the movie another time.”

Superior Value Cinema will play many of the season’s hit movies several weeks after they complete their first run engagements at the company’s recently remodeled Duluth Cinema and the Lakes Cinema in Hermantown, Minn. Renovations at the Duluth Cinema include Marcus Theatres’ 14th UltraScreen® auditorium featuring D-BOX motion seats, a “Take Five Lounge” and other new amenities.
