Fitchburg mother accused of stabbing 6-year-old daughter

FITCHBURG, Wis. (AP) — Police say a mother in Fitchburg has stabbed her 6-year-old daughter multiple times.

Officials say the girl was stabbed in the chest and back and suffered life-threatening injuries. Police were called to the home about 2:30 a.m. Monday. They found the mother in the house. Investigators say the woman told them she had stabbed her daughter.

The mother also had multiple stab wounds, which police say were self-inflicted. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

WKOW-TV reports no additional suspects are being sought.
