Admission is free with free parking on the grounds and the University of Minnesota Duluth’s maroon lot B with shuttle service about every 20 minutes to the UMD lot.

Duluth: Artists are on the loose at the Lake Superior Zoo. A silent auction and art fair runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fairmont Park, next to the zoo. Bid on fine art originals and prints, handcrafted jewelry, photography, books and more in the silent auction. Shop the art fair, have your picture taken with selected zoo animals by local photographers and show your unique style with face painting by local artists while you enjoy music by area performers including, Gina Lee, The People Say Fox, Diet Folk, Colleen Myhre and Brothers Burn Mountain. Admission is free. Auction proceeds benefit the Lake Superior Zoo.

Michigan St. Grabitske is the manager of outreach services for the Minnesota Historical Society. He’ll discuss his book, “Six Miles from St. Paul,” about Minnesota’s first lady, Sarah Sibley, wife of Gov. Henry Hastings Sibley.
