A meeting to notify community members about a convicted sex offender who is settling into Superior’s downtown neighborhood begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Room 201 at the Government Center, 1316 N. 14th St.

Robert D. Flaig, 40, was convicted of two counts repeated sexual assault of a child in March 2006. Released from prison July 31, he moved into temporary housing.

Flaig’s new address will be 1911½ Broadway St., according to Superior Deputy Chief Matt Markon. Mailings and door-to-door delivery of flyers in the neighborhood should be complete Monday, and notification will go out to schools, day cares and health facilities in the area, according to police.

High-level notification was deemed warranted by the Douglas County Sex Offender Notification Committee based on the nature of Flaig’s offenses.

Flaig was convicted of abusing two relatives after his arrest Aug. 9, 2005. The victims told Superior police about several years of abuse that included intercourse.
