A rural Augusta man convicted two years ago of taking nearly five dozen photographs up women's skirts is accused of similar behavior in June, this time at a funeral service in Augusta.
David R. Von Haden, 44, S8190 Highway V, is charged in Eau Claire County Court with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Von Haden is free on a $500 signature bond and returns to court Sept. 17. As conditions of his bond, Von Haden cannot have contact with the victim or possess cellphone cameras or other cameras.
According to the criminal complaint: A woman told Augusta police she and her husband were sitting on a couch along a wall during the June 17 funeral service. When Von Haden, who was sitting on a chair in front of the woman, moved his arm, she noticed an object below his arm that had a lens and red light. The woman realized Von Haden was videotaping her skirt and legs. The woman's husband later confronted Von Haden, who did not turn over his camera for fear the husband would take it to the police. Police seized Von Haden's cellphone while searching his home June 22.
In the previous case, Von Haden pleaded guilty in January 2010 to five misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service. He also was required to undergo a psychological evaluation and sex offender assessment.
According to the criminal complaint in that case:Von Haden admitted to taking pictures up women's skirts at three Eau Claire stores on Oct. 2, 2009. He told police he had been taking similar pictures at Eau Claire stores during the previous two months.
Police examined Von Haden's camera and cellphone and found 57 photographs taken up women's skirts.
