There’s a primary election next week and there is only one contested race for county offices — that is for register of deeds. I believe that Gayle Wahner should be re-elected to the position of register of deeds. Here’s why. Wahner is a decent, hard-working and personable individual as is her opponent. But this is not a popularity contest.
It is a position that requires skill and knowledge of all facets of the job. Wahner has the education and the experience that is required for the position, and she has shown her expertise during her two-term tenure in the office. The office has been run very efficiently, and Wahner has been working hard to preserve the records in the Register of Deeds Office using up-to-date technologies, which improves the accessibility and accuracy of records for the individuals of Douglas County.
Wahner is the incumbent in this race. To vote for an incumbent’s opponent, one needs a reason. The incumbent is successfully performing the duties of register of deeds. She has been very professional in her position; she has shown her ability to complete the responsibilities of the register of deeds. Therefore, we have no reason to replace the incumbent.
I truly believe that she deserves our support and our votes. Help re-elect Gayle Wahner in the upcoming primary election. Get out and vote for Gayle next Tuesday.
