United Presbyterian Church hosts a “Heroes of the Bible”camp Aug. 6-10 at the church, 229 N. 28th St. E. This camp-in-a-van program runs 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day and all children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome to attend.

Young adults from the Presbyterian Clearwater Forest staff the camp. They were selected for their Christian commitment and love of children, and are trained to lead bible studies, worship, songs, crafts and zany recreation. Volunteers from United Presbyterian assist with the camp.

A typical camp day consists of a morning game and craft, followed by a morning worship and small group bible study. Then there will be arts and crafts or a game and lunch. Camp style fun games as well as group building activities follow, and if there is time, a story time. The day ends with a closing worship or song.

Some games and activities may take place outdoors so bring sunscreen.

United Presbyterian is looking for more volunteers to help make this experience run smoothly. If you can help out in any way, make lunches, help children with crafts, play games and help shepherd the youth, contact Cheri Tesarek at (715) 392-4751 ext. 11. You don’t need to commit to the whole week or even the whole day.

There will be a family night on Thursday for the children and staff to share with their families what they have done for the week.

Presbyterian Women sponsor the camp.

Contact Tesarek at (715) 392-4751 ext. 11 or email unitedpresyouth@hotmail.com to register your child.
