Brad Keseluk has again donated an incredible piece of chainsaw art to the Friends of Lucius Woods organization. How did he top last year’s fabulous woodcarving? He added another bear and a backrest to the bench.

Chainsaw carving is a hobby for Keseluk, and one to which he wishes he could devote more of his time. In addition to owning and running the Sidelines Bar on Lake Minnesuing, he also owns Bayside Docks and works full time as a paramedic for Gold Cross.

“It is so much fun, I wish I could do more of it,” Keseluk said with a laugh. “Chainsaw carving is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.”

His bear bench is now on display at the Sidelines Bar, where raffle tickets are being sold, and it will make its debut at Saturday’s concert at Lucius Woods.

The Friends of Lucius Woods organization supports Music in the Park at Lucius Woods through a variety of fundraising activities. One of the larger events they sponsor is a silent auction, which is held Saturday. The setting is the beautiful Lucius Woods Park in the heart of the village of Solon Springs in rural northwest Wisconsin. The ever popular Whitesidewalls will again be playing, with the auction starting at 5:30 p.m., and the music at 7 p.m.

Silent auction chairwoman Wendy Maas said there are more than 200 items for auction this year, including many gift certificates to local restaurants, pieces of artwork, handmade quilts, loads of gravel and dirt, guided fishing trips, lures and many other items, including some things for your pet. Wendy said that businesses and individuals from Iron River to Duluth, and south to Hayward have generously donated. In addition to the many items at the auction, this year’s chainsaw carving will be on display. Raffle tickets will be sold that night, and at the following two concerts. The drawing will be Aug. 18 after the concert intermission.
