Arts council, windows program launch new tradition

Two Superior nonprofits join forces to bring the First Harvest Community Arts & Music Festival to Superior from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Broadway Community Gardens.
The Superior Council for the Arts and the North Country Windows Program celebrate the peak of summer vegetable and flower gardens with a music and arts festival featuring musicians and songwriters Sara Thomson, Toby Churchhill, James Wiita, Sequin & Hauswirth, Kristy Marie, the Mark Anderson Trio and Tico 3. From 1-6 p.m. short sketches, performances and demonstrations including the Superior Community Theater, karate demonstrations, Belly Dancing with Deb Poldoski, Youth Yoga with Catherine Anderson and safety programs take center stage.
Master gardeners share great gardening tips and demonstrations all day; shop local artists for crafts, photography, bread, painting, outdoor furniture, jewelry and a tchotchke or two.
Food and beverages will be available all day.
There is a gate fee of $5. Kids younger than 12 accompanied by adult are free.
