If you travel across the U.S. you’ll find the poorest roads are here in Douglas County.
Rural county roads such as roads P and D have been neglected by the Douglas County Highway Department and are full of potholes and cracks from last year.
I’ve called the Hawthorne highway department office several times and all I hear are excuses. County Road P has thousands of cars a week yet it is in such poor condition that 45 mph is necessary so you don’t damage your car.
The lack of maintenance is a good reason not to buy a home in Lake Nebagamon or along County Road P.
Members of the Douglas County Board are at fault for allowing this to continue year after year. Why would anyone look to relocate to northern Wisconsin considering rural Douglas County with the poor roads they would have to use to commute to work.
It’s time for a change.
Milton Olson,
Poplar
