NBC adds support for Superior Man Triathlon, Duluth Airshow

National Bank of Commerce has long sponsored community activities, including the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center’s popular “Music in the Park” series.

National Bank of Commerce has long sponsored community activities, including the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center’s popular “Music in the Park” series.

Later this summer, the bank is expanding on its community support as a presenting sponsor of two Duluth events: the first-ever Superior Man Triathlon on Aug. 26, and the Duluth Airshow, Sept. 22-23.

The Superior Man Triathlon will be a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Superior, followed by a 56-mile bike ride along the lake’s North Shore, and then a 13.1-mile, half marathon run that makes several loops around downtown Duluth. All activities begin and end in the Bayfront Park/Amsoil Arena area, making it a spectator-friendly event.

“Triathlons are grueling for participants and wildly entertaining for spectators, so National Bank of Commerce is pleased to help bring this exciting sport to our community,” said Bruce Webb, President of NBC’s Minnesota Banks, adding that Kestrel Aircraft Company is joining the bank as co-presenting sponsors. “We hope everyone in the area will come out on August 26 to enjoy all the festivities.”

For the Duluth Airshow at the Duluth International Airport, NBC is the presenting sponsor of in-air demonstrations of the United States Marine AV-8B Harrier III – the newest-generation of the Marines’ vertical/short takeoff and landing ground-attack aircraft.

“We’re honored to be the presenting sponsor of this awe-inspiring symbol of America’s strength,” said Webb. “The Duluth Airshow organizers do an excellent job with their event, and we’re looking forward to helping add to it with the USMC AV-8B Harrier III demonstrations.”

National Bank of Commerce is the area’s largest, locally-owned bank, with Minnesota bank locations in Duluth and Hermantown, plus two more banks in Superior, and one in Poplar and Solon Springs.
