Stephanie Honz, Superior native, is no stranger to travel overseas.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Superior with a degree in organ performance, she went on for graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. She is a Gold Medal winner on the International level many times over, and performs regularly in Europe, China, North Africa, Israel, and throughout the US. She is under concert management with the German agency, Mueller Associates, and World Library Publications of Chicago.

Though Honz enjoys a career in music, she has recently won a different kind recognition.

This summer, she will be heading across the Atlantic to cheer on the United States equestrian team at the Olympic summer games in London. Stephanie, an avid horse person herself, won a trip for two to London after submitting a research paper on her experience with an equine veterinary product called SUCCEED. She claims this product saved one of her horse’s lives after years of battling stomach ulcers.

“I have owned Gershwin since he was a colt, and he has had problems with mild colics his entire life,” Honz said. “For the most part, he has been healthy and competitive. He was an A circuit hunter/jumper that competed successfully all over the US. He has earned more than 100 ribbons and trophies! The horse is super athletic, with an extremely kind temperament and good work ethic, which makes him a safe mount, not to mention, a beloved companion.”

Who is the lucky traveler that will accompany Stephanie to London? Her trainer and longtime friend, P.J. Tymann.

“Though I wish I could take all my gal pals from the barn, P.J. has been a rock for me when things have been challenging with Gershwin. She works so hard for all her clients, and really goes the extra mile for the horses,” Honz said. “I am so glad to be able to gift her with a trip to watch the best of the best, sip high tea at the Ritz, and perhaps even get a glimpse of the Royal Family!”
