MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin native Carey Rottman will have another round of surgery Tuesday or Wednesday at an Aurora hospital in Colorado after surviving the mass shooting at a suburban Denver movie theater that left 12 dead and 58 injured.
Rottman's father, Dale, says doctors have told Carey it could be a year before he fully recuperates. Rottman, of Mequon, tells WTMJ radio his son had just finished recovering from a torn ligament in his opposite leg suffered about a year ago while playing basketball.
The 27-year-old Carey was one of the patients who got a visit from a half dozen Denver Broncos players Sunday. He played football at Winona State in Minnesota and faced Bronco lineman Chris Kuper's North Dakota teams.
