Superior native garners job creation appointment from Wisconsin governor

A Superior native is among the new administrative staff announced Wednesday by Gov. Scott Walker.

Ryan Murray, who has service as a policy and legislative director and deputy chief of staff during the first 1½ years of Walker’s term in office has been appointed chief operating officer and deputy secretary of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Murray played a key role during the transition in 2010, helping develop Walker’s job creation policy agenda, according to a news release issued by the governor’s office. He also served previously as a chief of staff and communications director in the Wisconsin State Senate.

“Moving into the second half of my first term, I am redeploying administration resources to ensure we have the strongest team possible to help the people of our state create jobs,” the governor said in a prepared statement.

Murray starts in his new role July 30.

In addition to Murray, Walker appointed state Sen. Rich Zipperer, R-Pewaukee, to be his deputy chief of staff and senior counsel for the governor’s office.

Jocelyn Webster, a former deputy communications director for Chris Christie was appointed Walker’s communications director.
