Wooden boats converge at Barker’s Island

The 2012 Lake Superior Wooden Boat Festival is set for July 28.

The 2012 Lake Superior Wooden Boat Festival is set for July 28.

The 14th annual Lake Superior Wooden Boat Festival runs 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Barker’s Island Marina.

The show is the largest wooden and classic boat festival on Lake Superior and features vintage and new boats of all kinds — pulling boats, runabouts, powerboats, sailboats, canoes and kayaks.

The public gets a chance to vote on their favorites in four class and “best of festival”

The festival also features live music. The festival is free to the public.
