Three Washburn men arrested in connection with string of burglaries
The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men in connection with a series of thefts, burglaries and criminal damage to property in Bayfield County.
The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men in connection with a series of thefts, burglaries and criminal damage to property in Bayfield County. Three suspects ages 18, 20 and 21 are suspects in as many as 40 separate incidents, according to a news release from the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office. All three men live in or near the city of Washburn. Numerous townships in Bayfield County were affected by the incidents.
Burglaries and thefts occurred mostly at unoccupied cabins or second homes. A wide variety of items were taken. Suspects took power tools, sporting goods, firearms and salvage materials like copper and batteries. Many of the items taken have been recovered but much remains unaccounted for.
Information obtained in the investigation has helped the Iron River Police Department clear several cases in that community.
Bayfield County Sheriff’s deputies are still working to complete the investigation. Several criminal cases are expected to be referred to the Bayfield County District Attorney by the end of this week.
