The intensive program is free to any student enrolled in a North Dakota public school who has completed their sophomore or junior year. North Dakota State University faculty offer highly concentrated instruction through classroom experiences, discussion groups, labs, field trips and other activities.
Governor’s School participants live in NDSU residence halls and eat in campus dining halls. Kristy Brandt, who completed her junior year at Davies High School in Fargo, is the daughter of Ronald Brandt and Carol Brandt of Fargo, formerly of Superior.
A focus on service learning and leadership infuses the entire experience and the program is supported by the North Dakota Legislature. Each science student is paired up with a scientist and must learn to journal and document their research. Evenings and weekends are reserved for recreational and fine arts activities.
The science students will do a power point presentation on their research projects.
Brandt is the granddaughter of Marge and the late Alex Anecki of Superior.
