A Superior man will spend eight months in jail for selling morphine.

Michael Steven Tyler Rea, 22, pleaded no contest to two counts felony delivery of schedule II narcotics last week in Douglas County Circuit Court. Two additional counts of delivery of schedule II narcotics, one as a party to the crime, were dismissed but read in for sentencing.

He was sentenced to eight months jail with Huber work release granted. He also was ordered to pay $498.50 in fines and court costs, provide a DNA sample and pay a civil judgment for $120.

Rea and Deeana Marie Crist, 26, sold morphine during four drug buys monitored by Superior police in November and December. After being arrested, both admitted selling morphine pills. They said they’d been selling or trading the pills, which Crist stole from her grandmother, for six months. The two initially traded the pills for marijuana, Rea said.

Crist, also of Superior, pleaded guilty to one felony count of delivery of schedule II narcotics as a party to a crime, in May. She was sentenced to two years of probation, ordered to undergo a chemical dependency evaluation and follow recommendations, testify against Rea and pay a fine and civil judgment. Three additional counts of delivery of schedule II narcotics, two of them as a party to a crime, were dismissed but read in for sentencing.
