OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (AP) — Authorities on Monday planned to investigate a fatal fire in downtown Oconomowoc.
Officials say one person died in the fire Sunday afternoon in a building that houses a real estate company and two apartments on the second floor. Public Safety Director David Beguhn earlier said two people were missing and presumed dead, but the number of fatalities was later revised to one. Beguhn says a woman in her 30s, a tenant of one of the apartments, was killed.
Beguhn says two Oconomowoc firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at a hospital. Two other firefighters — from Dousman and Ashippun — were treated at a hospital for heat exhaustion.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says more than 100 firefighters responded to the scene.
