Program honors those who served

The Flags of Honor Program, sponsored by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435, honors the life and memory of one deceased veteran every week by flying a flag over the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center.

The Flags of Honor Program, sponsored by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435, honors the life and memory of one deceased veteran every week by flying a flag over the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center.

The flag is raised respectfully at a ceremony at 9 a.m. each Friday by members of the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435. One the following Friday, at 8:30 a.m., the flag is lowered.

Information about the veteran is on display in the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center throughout the week.

In coming weeks, the following veterans will be honored with a flag raising ceremony at 9 a.m. in front of the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center: Daniel Stierns, July 13; Lenard Bay, July 20; and Clifford Dunbay, Aug 3.

The event is free and open to anyone who wants to show their appreciation for those who served our country.
