Missing woman found dead at bottom of cliff in Bayfield County
Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department found a 60-year-old woman from Bayview dead after she was reported missing Tuesday.

A friend of the missing woman said it had been several days since she was seen. The caller went to the person’s house and discovered her car, purse and cell phone but could not find the woman.
When deputies arrived a short time later, they observed lawn and garden tools near the edge of the property near Lake Superior. They found discovered newly pruned branches and a tree pruner about five feet over the ledge.
According to a news release issued by the sheriff’s department, deputies climbed down about half the distance of the cliff that was more than 90 feet and could see a person who appeared to be dead in lake Superior.
The woman’s body was recovered with the help of the Washburn Fire Department and a boat owned by one of the department’s members.
The woman’s death is believed to be an accident.
The name of the woman is being withheld pending notification of family.
Responding to the incident along with Bayfield County Sheriffs’ deputies was the Washburn Fire Department, Washburn Area Ambulance and Bayfield County Coroner’s office.
