A Fitchburg man was charged Tuesday with intentional child abuse for allegedly breaking both legs of a 2-month-old boy who would not stop crying.

Michael W. Yang, 20, was released on a signature bond after an initial court appearance.

According to a criminal complaint, Yang told police he forced one of the infant's legs backward because he was tired, stressed and angry he couldn't get to sleep.

Yang also said his calf landed on the infant's leg when he sat down next to him, causing the baby to cry. Yang said he was tired of the baby's crying and picked the infant up too quickly, causing the broken bones, the complaint states.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. Thursday, about an hour after Yang returned from work, according to the complaint.
