A Superior teen accused of stabbing his cousin during a robbery early Monday morning made his initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court Tuesday.
Richard Erron Larsen, 17, faces felony counts of armed robbery with use of force and aggravated battery.
Larsen had an altercation with his cousin, Joseph Bennett, while they were driving on Tower Avenue, according to a news release issued by Superior Police Capt. Nick Alexander.
Bennett, a Duluth resident, was a passenger in the vehicle. He claims Larsen demanded all his money. When Bennett refused, Larsen reportedly stabbed him multiple times with a small knife. The incident took place in the vehicle and Larsen fled the scene once the vehicle stopped. Bennett’s wife was driving at the time. A fourth person, a friend of Larsen’s, was also in the vehicle and fled with the teen.
Bennett was treated and released from a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Cash bail was set at $10,000 for Larsen. If convicted, Larsen faces a maximum 26 years imprisonment.
