Thank you for highlighting Gov. Scott Walker’s historic victory as the only American governor to survive a recall election. As a public school educator, I couldn’t be more thrilled that my fellow citizens have spoken loud and clear in favor of freedom of choice and fiscal sanity.
This vote is a victory for both the taxpaying public and the committed teachers of Wisconsin. Despite the unions’ massive spending and organizing, forced unionism will now become a distant memory; allowing teachers in Wisconsin ultimate control over whether or not they want to belong to a partisan, political-motivated labor union.
I couldn’t be more thrilled that my rights and freedoms have been reaffirmed via this historic vote. I now have the opportunity to choose an association that represents me as a professional.
Teachers, with the recall behind us, consider a professional alternative that doesn’t spend your hard-earned money on dividing partisan politics. Consider the Association of American Educators, the largest national, non-union professional association for teachers. AAE provides professional benefits like liability insurance and legal protection at only $15 a month and without controversial political agendas.
My fellow teachers, I urge you to examine the difference for yourself. Don’t teach next year unprotected, and don’t pay more for a union you don’t support.
