Students perform Badger competition
Five area piano students competed in the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Badger competition, held May 19 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Five area piano students competed in the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Badger competition, held May 19 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The students are Hans Arvidson-Hicks, Sannah Arvidson-Hicks, Kristina Bock, Ben Hintzman and Ellen Stoll, students of Alexander Sandor of Superior. They earned the right to compete after advancing from the WMTA district auditions in Superior, where they performed three memorized compositions of contrasting style and completed a written music theory exam. At the state competition in Eau Claire, Hans Arvidson-Hicks was selected as runner-up and Ben Hintzman was given honorable mention. Ben is a fourth grader at Bryant School in Superior. He has been taking lessons for five years. Hans Arvidson-Hicks is an eighth grader at Marshall School and has studied piano for eight years.
