Bong Center film features ‘most decorated soldier’

The Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center announces the sixth offering in its 2012 film series, Hollywood’s Heroes, which features a movie whose star was born that month.
At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pearl Harbor Theatre, the center screens “To Hell and Back,” starring Audie Murphy.
Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in U.S. history, stars as himself in the 1955 film. ‘To Hell and Back’ is based on Murphy’s autobiography. It focuses on his life before and up to his Medal of Honor Ceremony. The movie was well received and earned $6 million in the box office, just below “Lady and the Tramp” and “Strategic Air Command.”
