A two-day “Landscape Painting with Pastels” class, instructed by Diana Randolph of Drummond runs July 23-24 at the 49th annual School of the Arts at Rhinelander at the James Williams Middle School.

Each summer for nearly 50 years, more than 250 people have gathered in northern Wisconsin for a week of study, performance, exhibits and other creative activities. More than 50 workshops in body, mind, spirit; food and fitness; art and folk-art; music; digital media; and writing are offered.

Some classes fill up quickly.

Additional School of the Arts activities, and events throughout the Rhinelander area, round out the week.

Participants may choose from one, two, and five-day classes to craft their own mix for creative exploration and renewal.

This year’s classes run July 22-27. For information, visit www.soawisconsin.org or phone (608) 262-0557.

The School of the Arts at Rhinelander is offered through the Continuing Studies Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
