To the Telegram:
Charter Communication via phone made an agreement with us that they would broadcast the Minnesota Twins ball games for a period of two years if we would sign for a two-year contract.
On May 1, one year after the agreement was made, without notice they stopped broadcasting the Minnesota Twins ball games and now broadcast Wisconsin Brewers games on both channel 824HD and on channel 37. The only reason we signed with Charter was the promise that for two years we would have the Minnesota Twins baseball games.
We talked by phone to a representative and went to their office and were told, salesman are not allowed to make promises. We were told Fox Sports made the decision to cut off Wisconsin residents from the broadcast.
It doesn’t make sense to broadcast Wisconsin Brewers on two channels and not have the Minnesota Twins on at least one of the channels. The border cities and towns shouldn’t be penalized.
It takes maybe 2-2½ hours to go to a Twins game, and returns the same day, while it takes probably six hours to go to Milwaukee for a Brewers games and probably have to stay overnight. So naturally our interest in a professional baseball team would be a game that we could attend.
Our hope is that enough people will make themselves heard that Fox Sports Network will change their mind on this policy.
