A couple hundred pounds of insulated copper wire was collected by Superior police Monday afternoon in downtown Superior. A person renting a home on the 1400 block of Broadway Avenue found the wire in her garage and reported it. She claimed it was not hers and did not want it on her property, according to Superior Police Capt. Nick Alexander.
A Superior Water Light and Power crew was called in to identify the wire, according to the Superior police report. They were able to confirm it was the type of wire used to wire street lights.
βIt is likely that the copper was stolen from somewhere,β Alexander said, and the department is investigating to find the origin of the wire.
