Animal Allies’ goal is to reduce homeless pet overpopulation in the Twin Ports by decreasing the number of felines entering the shelter. With this grant, Animal Allies estimates 65 percent of unaltered felines in the target areas will be spayed or neutered within two years.

The organization’s pet sterilization partnership with Northland Spay/Neuter Clinic, PLLC makes possible the altering of more than 7,000 pets per year to proactively fight the area’s homeless pet overpopulation. Superior Animal Hospital will partner with Northland Spay/Neuter to serve as a centralized drop-off and pick-up location for free animal transport from Superior, WI to the clinic in Duluth.

“This grant will prevent hundreds of unwanted litters,”said Rick Sailstad, Executive Director of Animal Allies. “Now pet owners who could not previously afford to fix their feline will be able to alter their beloved pet. This grant is a major step towards eliminating unnecessary euthanasia in the Twin Ports.”

To schedule an appointment, contact Northland Spay/Neuter at (218) 623-6342 between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, or email info@northlandspayneuter.org.
